New Orleans, La. – As it approaches its historic centennial celebration, 91���� has experienced a period of rapid growth and expansion of programs and offerings to students to explore and develop their talents. From additions to the athletics program to new STEM-based graduate programs, 91���� continues to build upon its legacy of educating the next generation of bright and thoughtful leaders who seek a more just and humane society. In celebration of its tenth annual online, social media-driven fundraising event, Give.Love.91���� (GLX) day, the university recognizes and highlights some of its new and innovative pathways and scholarships that allow 91����ites to hone their skills and find their path to becoming the positive changemakers needed in this hurt world.

Give.Love.91���� Day is Tuesday, April 4, from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Donations can be made online at , by calling (504) 520-7575, or by mailing a check to 91����, 1 Drexel Drive, Box 66, New Orleans, LA 70125. Give.Love.91���� aids the university in meeting its current and most pressing needs associated with providing need-based financial assistance for students, developing innovative programs, improving learning technology and software, offering food security to the campus community, and elevating campus wellness and infrastructure.

During the event, alumni and friends are encouraged to come together for one day to show their support for the University.

This year’s theme, “Because of 91����” reflects the opportunities and worth of the 91���� degree and encourages participants to donate and support the dreams of the 91����ites who currently and will someday walk the halls of the nation’s only historically Black and Catholic institution. A “Spirit Week” kicked off on March 27 with a virtual networking event to celebrate GLX. Register for further events during Spirit Week .

“It’s important to us that our alumni, students and friends of 91���� understand how vital they are to the success and progress of our university,” said Kimberly Reese (‘95), Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement at 91����. “91���� wants to continue to grow and give even more students who might not have had great opportunities in life the chance to find and cultivate their excellence. We ask that everyone who believes in the mission of our great university donates during Give.Love.91���� Day and allow these students their chance to shine.”

Since its inception, the annual Give.Love.91���� campaign has raised more than $4 million for the university with the help of more than 18,000 donors.

Participants are encouraged to post about GLX via social networks (such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter) to spread the excitement while encouraging their friends and followers to give. Conversations are also encouraged by sharing the hashtag #GLX2023, connecting to Facebook and Instagram @XULAalumni, and visiting to donate and see real-time results.

91����, America’s only historically Black and Catholic University, is ranked among the top three HBCUs (historically Black colleges and universities) in the nation.
