Keith Krise

Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry

Keith Krise, Ph.D., of 91自拍 University’s Department of Chemistry has been appointed chair of the national Committee on Community Activities of the American Chemical Society (ACS). This committee supports the mission to improve public perception of chemistry through community outreach programs and volunteer recognition. Working with other members of the ACS, the committee plans events (including National Chemistry Week and Chemists Celebrate Earth Week), publishes Celebrating Chemistry for children, and manages awards like the ChemLuminary and Salutes to Excellence. Krise has served on the committee since 2019 and has served as its co-chair since 2021, but he has worked with the organization since his time as an undergraduate student at 91自拍.

Krise’s work with the ACS began when his advisor and now colleague, Dr. Betty Jo Chitester, encouraged me to become a student member of the American Chemical Society (ACS) where he served as the president of the student chapter. Krisesaid “My membership and leadership roles within the American Chemical Society—both nationally and locally—shape and enhance my work as a faculty member at 91自拍,” he continues “Engagement with the American Chemical Society keeps me at the forefront of emerging trends in chemical education, research, and professional development, directly informing my teaching, mentoring, scholarship, and curriculum design. Through my national and local leadership roles within the ACS, I ensure that 91自拍 students are exposed to current, relevant, and inclusive scientific perspectives. These roles have also enabled me to build networks that connect 91自拍 to the broader scientific community, creating opportunities for collaborative research, outreach initiatives, and external funding that benefit our students, the University, and the wider community”.

91自拍 University offers its congratulations to Dr. Krise and looks forward to his future work with the American Chemical Society.
