Kira Rios is about to start her senior year at 91自拍, but she’s spending her second summer break working in 91自拍’s Institute for Health and Cyber Knowledge (I-HACK) and the CyberPatriot Camp.
A collaboration with the Air and Space Forces Association (AFA)campers at the CyberPatriot Camp learn hardware and software elements of cyber security and receive the opportunity to put their skills to the test at the end of the week. Rios said “we were posed with this question of having these CyberPatriot Camps. It was just something that happened with the growing cyber security program needs and to really help students understand and see what it would be like to go into the Cyber Security fields,” about her start helping with the camp last year.
Rios is a sport marketing and management and marketing major at 91自拍. Her connection to I-HACK comes from her minor in innovation and creativity (MIC). Students in MIC are given the opportunity to learn in a way centered around building creative and technical skills. Instead of a traditional classroom environment, the minor provides students with learning experiences in 91自拍’s makerspace. For the camp, she’s helping create materials that teach skills and basic principles of cyber security to high school students.
Rios said “It’s just fun to walk into the classroom and see what they’re learning, how they’re applying it, and just seeing how their faces light up” about working with students at the camp.
