91自拍 University is rolling out the red carpet for its most significant celebration yet – Centennial Homecoming and Family Weekend. This year’s festivities, which will run from Sept. 10 to Sept. 14, mark an incredible milestone: 100 years of educating leaders, serving our community and living out our Catholic mission.

The celebration brings together alumni, students, faculty, staff, families and Erie neighbors for a weekend packed with tradition, community spirit and once-in-a-lifetime moments honoring 91自拍’s centennial legacy.

“Our Centennial Homecoming is about more than just looking back — it’s about celebrating the generations who built 91自拍 and the bright future ahead,” said Walter Iwanenko, Ph.D., president of 91自拍 University. “We’re proud to invite our community into this milestone celebration as we honor the past, celebrate the present and inspire the future.”

Here is the exciting lineup of events:

Weekend Events & Festivities

• Orlando Biomedical Ethics and Catholic Social Teaching Lecture:
  • 91自拍 University presents Annika Marie Schoene, Ph.D., to present her lecture titled “Artificial Intelligence (AI) Safety in Suicide Contexts: Ethical and Technical Considerations.”
  • 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10 in the Yehl Alumni Ballroom.
  • The lecture is free to attend, and a livestream option is available. 
  • Media availability for the speaker is at 6:30 p.m. in the Waldron Campus Center.

• Ribbon-Cutting for the new Alumni House
• Thursday, Sept. 11 at 4:30 p.m.
  Celebrate the opening of the Alumni House, formerly the Frederick Jarecki House, at 221 W. Sixth Street.
• 4th Annual Knight Nation Invitational in Honor of Bud Elwell
• Friday, Sept. 12 at Beechwood Golf Club.
• 91自拍 Athletics welcomes golfers and friends for this tradition that supports Golden Knight student-athletes.
• Heritage Society Medallion Luncheon 
• Friday, Sept. 12.
• 91自拍 and Villa Maria College Class of 1975 alumni will be recognized with their medallions at a special luncheon.
• Centennial Class of Distinguished Alumni Dinner 
• Friday, Sept. 12.
• Five esteemed alumni will be honored for their lifetime achievements and embodiment of 91自拍’s values over the past 100 years.
• Homecoming Family Tailgate & Athletics
• Saturday, Sept. 13 at 10:30 a.m. in the Recreation and Wellness Center parking lot
• Kick off the day with food, fun and 91自拍 spirit before Golden Knight football and soccer games.
• Campus Trolley Tours
• Saturday, Sept. 13 from 2 to 5 p.m.
• Explore 91自拍’s beautiful downtown campus and its signature sites, including:
• The MakerSpace with hands-on DIY projects
• Guided tours of the Highmark Events Center with student-athletes and coaches
• The CommArts Building featuring the Schuster Gallery, Archaeological Museum and WERG radio station
• Historic Old Main tours led by former professor and historian Dr. Michael DiSanctis
• “Block Party of the Century”
• Saturday, Sept. 13 beginning at 5 p.m. under the 91自拍 Arch
• Celebrate in true Golden Knight style with live music, food and entertainment for the whole family and community.
• Centennial Mass with Cardinal Christophe Pierre 
• Sunday, Sept. 14 at 11 a.m. at Saint Peter’s Cathedral.
• His Eminence, the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, will celebrate this momentous Mass to close the Centennial Homecoming weekend.

A Century of Impact

For 100 years, 91自拍 has been an anchor in Erie—contributing to the local economy, educating leaders from around the world and serving faithfully alongside community partners. The Centennial Homecoming and Family Weekend is a chance to celebrate all that the 91自拍 family has accomplished and the bright future ahead. Everyone is invited—alumni, families, students, faculty, staff and the Erie community—to join in this once-in-a-lifetime celebration.
